The Koala Stalk
Once upon a time, in a far far away forest, there lived a bunny with fluffy ears who loves the sweeter things in life. Beside the bunny's home there was a grumpy old wolf who feeds on Pocky snacks because he was too old to hunt. Next to the wolf there was a deer who was cursed by an evil witch who wishes to steal her throne. Above the deer there was a loud talkative mynah who just does not know when to keep her mouth shut. One day, the mynah had just returned home from her hunting trip. She was quite flushed from flying all the way from the Human world."Gather 'round! Gather 'round!" The mynah squawked. All her friends came out from their safe houses and stood under the tree. Clumsily, she took a dive from the branch to the ground and landed with a loud thud!"A koala has escaped from the zoo! A koala has escaped from the zoo!" The mynah said excitedly while the bunny's eyes flashed with enthusiasm. The koala was her favourite animal but koalas live far far away from the forest. This would be the perfect opportunity to finally meet a koala and speak to it."Oh!! Where? Where?" The bunny cried. The mynah grinned as this meant that she could talk more without having the others shut her up.

The four began their journey into the east and left their homes the next morning. The little bunny brought along her pink carrot toy, the wolf with his Pocky snacks, the deer popped on her best crown and the mynah brought her beak and tongue. They walked all day and night, stopping to rest only when they came across the stream where the beavers gather for tea parties. The deer had wanted to join in but they were short of time as the koala could have been killed by the aggressive Humans with each passing second. At last they found the wise owl asleep in the hollow tree at the end of the East. They shook it awake; the wolf almost killed the poor owl with his rough paws."Is it night-time yet?" The owl rubbed its eyes with its gray wings and looked at the four friends questioningly. They told him about their mission and the owl listened intently."Hmm...I think I have enough fairy dust to turn each of you into a Human and send you to the Human world, at the exact location where the Koala was spotted according to Mynah," the owl said. The little bunny was getting more excited by the moment. So with its magic wand, the owl said some strange words and turned the deer into a graceful elegant Human girl with long, thick black hair and gave her a beautiful frilly frock to wear. She put on her crown and examined herself on the lake's reflection.

The owl thought for a second and changed those ears into two curly pigtails which frame her bright round face. She hopped to the lake and stood next to the deer. There was not enough fairy dust left to change the wolf and the mynah's appearances and bring everyone to the Human world like he expected. He was very thrifty on the wolf's Human form and transformed him into a little boy who looks like a girl. The wolf was absolutely disgusted and asked for hair that would at least cover his face. As the owl granted his wish, the mynah laughed loudly.

The mynah sulked as she had to remain a mynah, or a very ugly and very short gnome-look-alike. The owl uttered more magic words and POOF! The four animal friends found themselves on the streets of the Human world."Wow! Look at the flower!" The bunny bounced excitedly as she pointed to a billboard."That's not a flower, it's an advertisement for a spa," the deer said as a koala trampled past the grass beneath."THE KOALA! THE KOALA!!" the mynah screeched, but the three friends could not hear her as she was an animal. The mynah sulked even more and proceeded to follow the koala from so close behind she could almost smell its fur.

The wolf and the deer stalked the koala as well, although they feel a little foolish. The wolf very badly wanted a Pocky stick right that instance, but he had left all his snacks at the owl's home. The owl must have taken them as payment for the fairy dust. They followed closely as the koala moved recklessly from one street to another. It seemed to be quite a deserted area as no Humans were in sight. Then the koala did something unexpected; it went into a nearby mart. The three friends watched its tactics behind the food shelf. The koala grabbed the cashier's collar roughly and asked for some bamboo.Of course, there was no bamboo so the koala started going berserk. It ransacked the fruits corner of the mart and threw tomatoes at every customer. The cashier was afraid, but she bravely walked up to the koala and handed it a golden packet of snacks. The koala looked at her expectantly and ripped the packet open to some chocolate bamboo-shaped sticks. It gobbled them up greedily and made puppy eyes for more. The bunny saw that there was a mole above the koala's eyes."A mole!" She whispered excitedly as the koala made its way out of the shop. They continued stalking the koara as it went to the city hall and seated itself amongst the many sleepy Humans who would not notice even if a dinosaur made its way into the hall. It listened to the speech; the three friends had to do so too. The mynah was locked outside under the hot scorching sun. That night, they slept below the trees in a local park. The gardeners thought they were poor and sympathized them. He gave them some sweets for that was all he could afford. The deer was deeply insulted and refused to even touch the sweets.

It smeared an easel with lots of wacky paints and then went about its merry way.During the two-day stalking, the four friends have realized that the koala goes into the mart at exactly 10.23 a.m. every single day and continued its rampage. The bunny decided that she is brave enough to approach the koala and have a nice chat.So the next day, they went to the mart earlier than the koala did and waited. They waited until noon, until all the food shelves were neat again. The deer and the mynah decided to go to the city hall to check, while the wolf and the bunny went to the art shop. There was no koala. The four searched uptown and downtown, but could not find the koala. The bunny was very disappointed but cheered up and said,"It was not fruitful, but at least we did have a very fun journey!"At that moment the owl's fairy dusts wore off, and the four friends returned to their furry states, to their nice tranquil forest in a far, far away land.
